Terminate your dial-up / PPPoE connection with a specified time

First of all we can  use the Rasdial command with /disconnect  parameter if we wish. Otherwise....


To disconnect your internet connection (dial-up / PPPoE) at a specified time, you can follow these steps:
Open Notepad and type this and save it as name.bat :
rundll32 iedkcs32.dll,CloseRASConnections
Save the file as "c:\disconnect.bat" (with quotes in order to avoid double-extensions)
Click Start, Run and type control schedtasks
Double-click Add Scheduled Task. The Scheduled Task Wizard starts.
Click Next. Under Click the program you want Windows to run, click Browse.
In the Select Program to Schedule dialog box, locate the file disconnect.bat in C:\
Click Open. Under Perform this task, specify a name for the task and how frequently you want this task to run, and then click Next.
Under Select the time and day you want this task to start, specify a start time and date for the task, and then click Next. Type the user name and password to run this task under, and then click Next. Click Finish and EnjoY.

Create Virtual hard drives in Windows 7

In Windows 7 it is now possible to create virtual hard drives; this is done through the new disk management with VHD files, read more to learn how to use this feature.

Create a virtual hard drive

Click on 'Start'
Right click on 'Computer'
Click 'Manage' you might be prompted by User Account Control, agree and continue.
Pick 'Disk Management' on the left side, this might take some time.

In the menu bar click on 'Action' and pick 'Create VHD'. It will be possible to specify the size and placement of the virtual hard disk file.

Connect the virtual hard drive file

Click on Start.
Right click 'Computer' Click on 'Manage'.
In the left side pick 'Disk Management'.
In the menu bar click on 'Action' and then 'Attach VHD'.

In the dialogue box that appers you can specify the placement of your VHD file, find it and click on Ok. 'Disk Management Service' will now mount the VHD file.
When it is mounted, right click on the virtual hard drive, that will be shown as a blue hard drive, then click 'Initialize Disk'

You will now be prompted with a dialogue box, pick the partion placement that suit your needs the best and click "Ok "'Disk Management Service' activates the disk for use.

Right click on the unallocated space on the virtual hard drive and click "New Simple Volume" and follow the instructions to create a new partition on your VHD.

Force Windows 7 Media Player to run 64 bit

Windows 7 still uses the 32 bit version of 'Windows Media Player' even though you run a x64 build of Windows 7, there is however a way to change this and there are som advantages by doing so, among others you will be able to use your 64 bit video codecs instead of 32 bit, so you will be able to use your 64 processor. This is how you do!

Open a command prompt as administrator.
Write "unregmp2.exe /SwapTo:64" without the quotes and make sure to write capital letters in capital, this command is case sensitive!
Open the Windows 7 registry (Windows button + r, write regedit and enter)

Go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\wmplayer.exe\

Double click the "Path" value.

Change the value “%ProgramFiles(x86)” to “%ProgramFiles%”

Close the Windows 7 registry and you are done.

Open Command Prompt in any folder (Windows 7)

In Windows 7 it has become easier than ever before to tab into Command Prompt if needed, it can be done from any folder or the desktop if wanted.

To open a command prompt just press and hold down the shift button and select the "Open Command Prompt here" Right Click Menu.

In Windows XP this was also possible, but you had to install a third party program for this to function, now it is possible to open command prompt from any Window where ever and whenever you like.

Force activation of Aero in Windows 7

If you are experiencing problems with activating and run Aero in windows 7 you can try the Aero Peek hack for Windows 7.


1. Open the registry (Write regedit in run)

2. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ DWM

If the DWM key is not found in the registry, right click on the Windows folder and pick New -> Key and calll it DWM.

3. In the second detail window to the right, a new DWORD (32-bit value) has to be made, with the name UseMachineCheck, this has to be set to 0.

4. In the same detail window to the right a new DWORD (32-bit value) is created with the name Blur, and this has to be set to 0 as well.

5. In the end a new DWORD (32-bit value) has to be made with the name Animations, this again has to be set to 0.

6. Restart Desktop Window Manager Session Manager in Services in Controlpanel: Write services.msc in the Run field (windows button + r) or use the following commands in a command prompt with administrator rights.

net stop uxsms
net start uxsms

7. You can now try to activate and use Windows Aero in Windows 7. Restart the computer if needed.
